What a fantastic 12 stages we've watched so far ! The riders and the teams have endured has been epic - we're not even quite half way there!
Team SKY's G. Thomas wore the yellow jersey for the second day running & we have seen him out sprint three other GC riders on the last 200m of the Alpe D'huez climb. Incredible and some very questionable scenes through out the very famous climbing stage, we saw the usual frantic and almost hooligan fans running alongside the tarmac - goading and obscuring the riders, flares lite it certainly meant for some incredible photos and entertaining viewing but talk about making the impossible harder! We've seen the riders tackle the cobbles on route to Roubaix, the field has lost riders - Richie Porte, Cav, Kittel, Fernando Gaviria & Nibili to mention a few.
SKY's Thomas told reporters "Honestly I am speechless. It's insane." after the crazy finish to stage 12. But with question marks being raised over the welsh mans loyalty to ride for team rider Chris Froome, he answered quite clearly.. "Maybe I can keep the yellow jersey for the next few days. But this race is so hard, you never know for sure. I am still riding for Froome, he is the man."
Team Movistar lead in the best team category, whilst BORA - HANSGROVE's Peter Sagan, the Road World Champion, is leading the Green jersey - points classification. Which if held, would be his 6th time claiming the Green jersey of the TDF.
QUICK STEP FLOORS - Julian Alaphilippe has held the polkadot jersey since the 10th stage.
