Leigh snaps up 3rd at the European Duathlon Championships

TSC & Team GB rider, Leigh, finishes up on the podium!

So dust has settled on the performance Sunday, awesome medal ceromony and celebrations with family afterwards. 3rd in age group and 22nd overall.

Race went like this:

Run1:
Strong start in the first 5km - running at 17minute (PB) pace and was working my way through groups who'd started too fast. Picking people off one by one on the third lap (of four) I caught a sizable pack and thought it sensible to stick with them to have a group to work with on the bike, so eased off a bit although gave myself a bit of a buffer on them in case of any issues in transition. Run time was 18:10

Bike
Plan worked and we formed a really fast moving strong peleton on the bike course, I absolutely gave everything here and whilst we had a group of 20 or more there were only a handful of us doing the work on the front so I spent most of my time there pulling along the train with @cycling_jerzy from TeamGB. The effort paid of us our bike group was (I think) the fastest on the road and pulled back some of the lead runners. I recorded 30:20 for the 20km bike which was up there with the fastest times of the day.

Run2
Came off the bike and emptied the tank on the 2nd run knowing I was in shout of a podium. Ran my fastest ever 2.5km and crossed the line thinking I'd done enough, but position wasn't confirmed until a few hours later.

3rd in age and 22nd overall. Cracking day out.
