WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF PROPEL.

LAUNCH AN ATTACK AND SPRINT FOR THE WIN. THIS AERO ROCKETSHIP ADDS DISC BRAKE CONTROL TO ITS PRO RACE HERITAGE.

"Aero bikes are optimised to reduce drag when riding at high speeds. Giant's Propel range offers outstanding aerodynamic performance through AeroSystem Shaping Technology and extensive wind tunnel testing, balanced with light weight, excellent handling and snappy acceleration. Slice through the wind on an aero road bike and ride faster." - Giant Website

THREE LEVELS TO CHOOSE FROM. TWO LEVELS OF CARBON.

For the 2018 season, Giant have maintained the three tiered frame option for the complete Propel Series. Having choice in each of the Advanced - Advanced PRO & Advanced SL levels is proving that Giant are striving to push this bike on to everyone who wants that all in one road bike. DON'T GET CONFUSED... The Advanced & Advanced PRO ranges use the same grade of Carbon - it's just the PRO level has a OD2 headset & has a Carbon steerer instead of the alloy that the base Advanced range has.

Take a Look at the Advanced Composite Tech info below:

ADVANCED COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY

"Giant's High Performance-grade raw carbon fiber is used to produce custom composite material in our own composite factory. Extremely lightweight, stiff and compliant, these handcrafted frames feature the following materials and processes:

MATERIALS: High Performance-grade raw carbon material features an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio.

RESIN: High Performance formula provides excellent void minimization (bubbles) while maintaining outstanding strength. And vibration absorbing particles are added to help disperse road shock.

MODIFIED MONOCOQUE CONSTRUCTION: The front triangle (downtube, headtube, toptube, seattube) is assembled and molded as one continuous piece. This front half is then joined to the rear chainstays and seatstays in a secondary process. This process eliminates the outermost woven composite sheet to reduce weight without affecting ride quality, strength or stiffness."

ADVANCED SL COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY

"Giant's Professional-grade raw carbon material is woven in our own composite factory to create the most cutting-edge frames available today. These frames feature the most advanced engineering and construction methods:

MATERIALS: Professional-grade grade raw carbon with the highest stiffness-to-weight ratio available today.

RESIN: Professional-grade formula with Carbon Nanotube Technology (CNT), a microscopic polymer added to Giant's custom blended resin*. Like miniature buttresses, CNT strengthens the layers of composite. Frames featuring CNT are 14 percent more impact-resistant than those without it.

FUSION PROCESS: This complex process involves hand weaving the toptube and seattube together, then re-molding the area under heat and high pressure to unify the junction, resulting in a lighter, stronger frame than those with traditional molding.

CONTINUOUS FIBER TECHNOLOGY: This manufacturing process allows Giant to construct the front triangle of Advanced SL bicycles* with larger, and therefore fewer, sections of composite material. With fewer pieces and junctions, the frames are up to 100 grams lighter and significantly stronger."

"Giant, the world leader in cycling technology, has unveiled its all-new Propel Disc Range of aero road bikes. Engineered and designed over a multi-year development phase involving Giant engineers, Team Sunweb pro racers, and aerodynamics experts at the Aero Concept Engineeringfacility in France, this cutting-edge aero road machine features all-new frame airfoils and shapes, plus integrated disc-brake design.

The Propel Disc range also introduces new purpose-built Giant components including an aero handlebar-and-stem unit with internal cable routing, and aero WheelSystem optimized with different rim depths front and rear to reduce drag without sacrificing control or power transmission.

One of the key breakthroughs is a new truncated ellipse airfoil shape—a design that lowers drag at a wider range of wind angles than traditional “teardrop” frame tubing. Engineers also found that, with proper integration, a disc-brake design can actually improve aero performance compared to rim-brake configurations.

Another big demand from Team Sunweb pros was efficiency, as measured by stiffness-to-weight ratio. The flagship Propel Advanced SL Disc model frameset is lighter than that of key competitor bikes including the Specialized Venge Disc and Trek Madone. And tests show that it is also significantly stiffer than those competitors. The combination of lower weight and higher stiffness means that the new Propel Advanced SL Disc is more efficient on the road.

Beyond the chassis, the Propel Disc range features several new component innovations including an integrated Giant WheelSystem. The rear wheel, less affected by crosswinds, has a 65mm deep rear rim for uncompromising aero performance and power transmission. The front has a shallower 42mm rim for added control in crosswinds. This further boosts the bike’s aerodynamic performance by lessening the effect of crosswinds on the front wheel while also reducing overall drag." - Propel Blog Post, Giant Website
